I happened to be watching the Cubs game yesterday. They happened to be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field (more on that later), so we left it on in the event that they did anything interesting.
So it gets to the top of the 9th, and the Cubs are ahead 5 to 2, and I’m thinking, they’re celebrating today, maybe they’ll blow it. Sure enough, before I know it, the Cubs’ lead is gone and the game is tied. The Dbacks went on to win the game (amid much cheering at my house), and this poor kid has a meltdown. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24537380/gif-cubs-lose-kid-cries-some-things-never-change He’d better get used to it, if he’s going to remain a Cub fan. After all, the Cubs are on track to lose 105 games this year. That’s a lot of meltdowns.
I do admit to feeling sorry for Jeff Samardzija – he’s a better pitcher than this, and shouldn’t be stuck with an 0 – 2 record.
